3rd Cyprus Young Adult's Conference: Assets Today - the Future You
Postponed until 2021

WHAT IS CYPRUS YAC
Assets Today - the Future You
AIMS
Young Adult Conference (YAC) intends to create a non-formal conference where young adults can acquire Asset building skills [capacities] through a programme of specifically chosen workshop themes; speech presentations; discussion and debate; networking; music and theatre, role exchange and games.
OBJECTIVE
YAC has been initiated to give young adults an opportunity to learn new Assets, nurture those they have. YAC helps foster learning of many socio-cultural, community, environmental issues that without this additional knowledge leaves them vulnerable during their teenage growth. The message is clear! The fewer ASSETS acquired during transition a host of detrimental possibilities arise. It is consistently demonstrated that the more developmental ASSETS young people acquire the better their chances of succeeding in school, becoming happy healthy contributing members of their communities and society.
“AGENTS for CHANGE”
The 14/18 year olds who felt they could contribute to personal, environmental and community growth gaining other Assets to empower the change. This is an adult inspired conference but decision led by the young adults themselves.
MISSION
YAC is not a one off event but is designed to be an Annual conference with follow up workshops through coming years to strengthen the new ASSETS they have acquired.
WHY?
- Presentations by Young Adults and Guided Debates with mentors
- Workshops with specialised Professionals in the chosen topics
- A Panel of experts for Q&A session
- Interaction with like-minded peers from across Cyprus
- A Pizza & Pool Party on the Saturday Night
- All workshop materials, YAC t-shirt, meals and refreshments
- Follow up workshops to be announced for 2020
- Possibility to join the mentoring programme “Agents for Change”
Who will take part in your development?
MENTORS
Why was it decided that the conference required mentors? The reason is many young people do not have someone they can turn to when needed; feel free to express themselves or talk; seek advice without judgement or just be listened to. It is hoped that during conference where it is appropriate a support bond between them will grow.
PANEL
These selected people are experts in the topics the Young Adults have themselves chosen to talk about in their presentations and later discussions. Panelists will answer questions and give their point of view. They do not represent a ‘judging’ panel.
WORKSHOP PROFESSIONALS
Workshop Professionals are the ones who will provide techniques and new skills to the young participants on the themes and topics Young Adults have selected themselves. Each workshop session will promote inter-action, role-play, games, music, and creative innovation to attain the purpose of each workshop.
