3rd Cyprus Young Adult's Conference: Assets Today - the Future You
Sat 17th - Sun 18th October 2020, Limassol
WHAT IS CYPRUS YAC
Assets Today - the Future You
Young Adult Conference (YAC) intends to create a non-formal conference where young adults can acquire Asset building skills [capacities] through a programme of specifically chosen workshop themes; speech presentations; discussion and debate; networking; music and theatre, role exchange and games.
YAC has been initiated to give young adults an opportunity to learn new Assets, nurture those they have. YAC helps foster learning of many socio-cultural, community, environmental issues that without this additional knowledge leaves them vulnerable during their teenage growth. The message is clear! The fewer ASSETS acquired during transition a host of detrimental possibilities arise. It is consistently demonstrated that the more developmental ASSETS young people acquire the better their chances of succeeding in school, becoming happy healthy contributing members of their communities and society.
“AGENTS for CHANGE”
The 14/18 year olds who felt they could contribute to personal, environmental and community growth gaining other Assets to empower the change. This is an adult inspired conference but decision led by the young adults themselves.
YAC is not a one off event but is designed to be an Annual conference with follow up workshops through coming years to strengthen the new ASSETS they have acquired.
- 5 Workshops with specialised trainers in the chosen topics
- 6 Presentations by 6 Young Adults on their chosen topics
- A Panel of experts for Q&A session
- Guided debates with mentors
- A Drumming workshop
- BEACH PARTY following the close on Saturday
- All workshop materials, canvas bag, conference t-shirt, food
- Follow up workshops to be announced for 2019
- Possibility to join the mentoring programme “Agents for Change”
- It is only 45 Eur for all of this!
Who will take part in your development?
Why was it decided the conference required mentors? The reason is many young people do not have someone they can turn to when needed; feel free to express themselves or talk; seek advice without judgment or just be listed to. It is hoped that during conference where it is appropriate a support bond between them will grow.
These selected people are experts in the topics the Young Adults have themselves chosen to talk about in their presentations and later discussions. Panelist will answer questions and give their point of view. They do not represent a ‘judging’ panel.
So workshop providers are the ones who will provide techniques and new skills to the young participants on the themes and topics Young Adults have selected themselves. Each workshop session will promote inter-action, role-play, games, music, and creative innovation to attain the purpose of each workshop.

I am a math and health education teacher. I am teaching since 1980 with time out for three babies. I am living in Cyprus since 1982. For many years I ran Duke of Edinburgh at the school. Second subject was dance which I have danced myself into a no dancing no cartilage situation!
I love to travel, read, meet new people – I am that person that will make friends at the bus stop! – knit, crochet and write and shop of course! I have also taken part in many pantos, opening one as I crawled out of a cave whooping as a witch, the perfect part for me!
I am passionate about education and youth. I have been working in educational organisations for around 8 years (University, NGO, VET school) and I am a supporter of multiculturalism, international experience, personal development, healthy living, environmental awareness and mentorship. I have experience in managing and implementing international projects, trainings and other events. I could say that I have quite some experience in marketing (e.g. social media, website). I love working with youth and support them in their exploration of world and life.
And well… I love photography, discovering planet earth and dancing; and you could find me playing some volleyball and table tennis.
